The Ukrainian diplomatic system performs three key tasks in the field of national security: to have allies in Ukraine, to support our state not only in the word but also indeed, and to make diplomatic efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – May 12, 2021 – Diplomatic Affairs
This was stated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, speaking on May 11 at the forum “Ukraine 30”.
“The three key tasks of national security for diplomats are, first, to have allies in Ukraine, second, to support us not only in word but also in deed, and third, to help strengthen the state’s defense capabilities through diplomatic means.” He remarked.
Dmytro Kuleba added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pays special attention to constant assistance to Ukrainian business in foreign markets so that Ukrainian companies can earn money abroad, bring currency to Ukraine, and create jobs.
“Business assistance in foreign markets is directly related to Ukraine’s security. A poor state will never win a war. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs helps Ukrainian business, including Ukrainian state-owned companies, in foreign markets to strengthen the economic power of the state, which is then converted into its security, ”he said.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy reminded of the key strategic priorities of Ukraine’s foreign policy: joining the EU and NATO.
Dmytro Kuleba expressed special gratitude to Ukraine’s partners for the support of our state during Russia’s recent escalation of the security situation.
“Over the last month, we have all seen how deterrence works in practice. I am grateful to all of Ukraine’s partners for hearing us in time and for making a significant contribution to stopping Russia from brandishing weapons, ”he said.
The minister stressed that Russia’s military presence remains both near the border and in the temporarily occupied territories. The only thing that has changed is that Russia has stopped brandishing its weapons loudly, but can resume these actions at any moment.
“We know how to deter the enemy, we know how to build alliances, we are successful in this matter and we continue to do so,” Dmytro Kuleba summed up.
Finally, the Minister stressed that the effectiveness of the state’s actions in the foreign arena largely depends on the effectiveness of cooperation within the country, and therefore the unity of all key players is needed: “If everyone does their job, together we can ensure the security of our own state.”
