Ukrainian schools will have time to move to the new norms and procedures for organizing student nutrition, which is provided by the updated sanitary regulations.

The relevant decision was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the Ministry of Health, it will take time to add new products to the procurement list, as some tenders and other procurement procedures for this calendar year have already been conducted.
In order to ensure the procurement of food products in accordance with the new rules, it was decided to establish a transitional period for the introduction of food standards in educational institutions and children’s health and recreation facilities until January 1, 2022.
Therefore, educational institutions can use the already concluded contracts for the supply of food and catering services, which are valid until December 31, 2021.
According to the new rules, the amount of salt and sugar, vegetable and animal fats, and juices will be limited in the organization of food in educational institutions.
The new diet also excludes children’s consumption of sausages, frankfurters, canned fish, meat and fruit and vegetables, confectionery, as these products are high in salt, sugar, and some of the – preservatives and trans fatty acids, which is contrary to the principles of healthy eating. Reduced consumption of bread and potatoes.
Instead, increased consumption of milk and dairy products, meat, fish, cereals, and legumes.
