About 180 Ukrainian tourists are stuck in Zanzibar due to a plane malfunction. This was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.
According to him, tourists were stuck in Zanzibar due to a broken plane. Diplomats are currently working with the tour operator to bring citizens home.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in Kenya are working with the tour operator to provide citizens with proper conditions of stay during the delay and to resolve their return as soon as possible,” he wrote.
One of the passengers of the flight said on Facebook that the departure was postponed for the third day. According to him, the flight was supposed to take place in the afternoon of February 13, passengers were put on a bus to the plane, but then it turned around and people were dropped off.
Then people were accommodated in different hotels. The next day, February 14, the passengers were again taken to the airport, but even then the flight did not take place.
Tour operator JoinUp and SkyUp are aware of the situation and are trying to resolve it.
Zanzibar is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Tanzania (East Africa) and a semi-autonomous part of the United Republic of Tanzania, created by uniting the former colonies of Tanganyika and Zanzibar.
